STRAWBERRY BLONDE WITH STYLE

▎❝ Pale blue: the coolest color trend of 2026. ❞

Last year, we talked about how pastel pink would dominate fashion but now there’s a new hue in town! This week we’re going to be talking about the color forecasted to be the coolest trend of 2026! I’m talking about pale blue! Whether you call it light blue, cool blue, baby blue, or icy blue, the many shades of this color have already been spotted on runways and will soon becoming to stores near you—if they’re not already there! This comes fresh off the spring/summer 2026 runways of Victoria Beckham, Dior, Carolina Herrara, and Simone Rocha to name a few. Marie Claire reports that Pinterest searches for the germ “cool blue” have increased 85 percent in comparison to outgoing 2025.

Not only is this beautiful pastel returning just in time for spring, but a more recent development has it being eyed as a neutral which is a pivot from how it’s traditionally been seen—unless you’re talking about denim. Paired in monochrome outfits with other complimentary hues of blue or simply worn on it’s own with more widely recognized neutrals like beige, this color is the one to watch! It’s versatility is full of untapped styling potential and lucky for us, I predicted this day would come and have pulled pieces from my wardrobe to talk about it!

Blues Clues

So what exactly constitutes a cool blue? In color theory, a cool blue is any hue that falls on the cooler side of the color wheel, meaning it leans away from the warm, yellow‑green spectrum and towards more muted, atmospheric tones. Think of deep navy, icy cerulean, or a pale, almost‑gray periwinkle—these shades contain minimal yellow or green undertones and are instead infused with hints of white, gray, or even a touch of violet. By reducing the warmth and adding these cooler accents, the resulting blues feel calming, crisp, and often a bit more chic, making them ideal for everything from elegant palettes that evoke timeless style to intentional layering that give a sleek, modern vibe.

Pictured above, I have four shirts that fall into the cool blue category, showcasing a stunning spectrum of shades that perfectly capture the essence of this color trend. Ranging from the lightest to the darkest hue, these shirts beautifully illustrate the versatility and depth of blue tones. The lightest shade, a soft sky blue, exudes a sense of serenity and calmness, while the next shade, a gentle baby blue, adds a touch of sweetness and innocence. Moving towards the medium tone of blue, the third shirt features a muted periwinkle that puts a steely spin on pastel to convey confidence and finally, the darkest shade, a deep cornflower blue, adds a pop of color and sophistication. Together, these four shirts demonstrate the range and nuance of pale blue, highlighting the many ways this trend can be styled and worn to create a variety of looks and moods no matter the occasion.

It’s worth noting that while navy is often associated with deep, moody tones, it can technically be classified as a variation of pale blue, depending on its undertones and how it’s contextualized within a palette. However, given that this season’s runway trends have leaned heavily into soft, delicate pastels—prioritizing lightness and airiness—navy hasn’t been featured in this particular lineup. For now, the focus remains on these brighter, more delicate iterations of the color spectrum to align with current aesthetic direction. That said, keep in mind that navy has been increasingly embraced in recent years as a neutral, akin to a darker gray or charcoal, offering a sophisticated alternative. Its versatility ensures it can straddle the line between both bold and understated, making it a worthy consideration for this post.

Dreamy Denim

Another point that I shared in an earlier post is that you can often see fabric textures and prints much easier on pastels due to their light color as a base. This allows the small details such as purposeful color variations or embroidery to stand out as it was intended. You can see an example of this pictured above in both pictures of vintage Versace pieces from my collection. Both shirts contain their own distinctive visual patterns and complimenting colors to show the difference. It also underscores how complementary colors, such as yellow and blue, can amplify the overall aesthetic, proving that a light backdrop is an invaluable tool for showcasing the nuanced beauty of fabric artistry.

The first picture shows a light blue, button up shirt that balances classic tailoring with subtle visual intrigue: long sleeves, a crisp collar, cuffed ends, and a row of neatly fastened buttons give it an unmistakably polished silhouette. The fabric itself is enlivened by thin, double lined stripes in soft yellow and deep navy that run the full length of the garment. These slender, alternating bands create clean, concise lines that lend the shirt a refined, almost architectural quality without overwhelming its understated hue. The piece demonstrates how thoughtful color pairings—cool blue with buttery yellow and a grounding navy—can transform a simple staple into a chic option, proving that the right combination of prints and tones is essential for everyday wear.

Some argue that the so called “cool blue trend” of 2026 is not a fleeting novelty but rather a long standing presence in fashion, physically embodied by denim. For decades, denim—a fabric steeped in history—has graced generations of wardrobes as a staple of versatility and timeless appeal. Its traditional pale blue hue, often mistaken for a niche color, has functioned as a neutral base, effortlessly complementing a range of tones, patterns, and textures. From classic blue jeans paired with bold prints to diluted denim jackets layered over vibrant outfits, its adaptability has cemented its role as a chameleon in style. The resurgence of cool blue as a design focus simply highlights what collectors and casual wearers have known all along: denim’s enduring presence isn’t a trend at all, but a testament to its effortless, unifying power as a foundational element of fashion.

In the second picture, you’ll find my prized vintage Versace jean jacket, an iconic piece that exudes effortless style. This jacket has matching pants to make a full suit. The button up design paired with the classic denim textile adds casual and relaxed air to the piece, making it perfect for many different types of venues. What sets this jacket apart, however, is the intricate detail of white Greek key style thread woven throughout the fabric, a signature element that is unmistakably Versace. This subtle yet striking touch adds a level of high fashion flair that could only come from their brand. It’s not a simple denim wardrobe staple but rather a statement piece that reflects the iconic Italian fashion house’s commitment to bold design. Overall, the combination of classic style, premium denim, and distinctive Versace branding makes this vintage jacket a true treasure in my wardrobe.

Cute Coats

Outerwear has long served as the ultimate style catalyst, letting you slip a trend into your wardrobe with effortless flair. Since the beginning of time, intentional pops of color have been used to elevate an entire look. A vibrant coat in this season’s headline hue can instantly transform a simple outfit into a runway ready statement. Additionally, a layered monochrome approach of mixing varying shades from the same color with different textures—offers a sophisticated, tonal play that feels both modern and timeless all at the same time. The possibilities are endless and the right outer layer can turn everyday dressing into a chic expression of the latest fashion narrative.

Pictured above, I have three examples of statement pieces matching the pale blue trend. These coats are all different with a range of fabrics and hues. The first is a light blue faux leather cropped jacket with double chest pockets and a collar. The crisp lines in the jacket make it visually interesting to the eye and give it more dimension than just the leather texture. This jacket also features round, silver buttons to match the cool tones that we’re discussing in this post. Of the three jackets, this first jacket is the most neutral in color being the closest one gray.

The second jacket pictured is of a slate blue faux fur shearling coat from Forever21. Oversized and full of texture, this coat is a guaranteed show stopper. The faux fur consistency allows for depth and interest sometimes missing in sleek fabrics. The color itself falls into the cool blue criteria because it is closer to purple or violet than warmer shades of yellow or green. Although this coat is darker than traditionally thought of lighter pastels, it remains one none the less.

The last pictured baby blue fringe jacket is a unique way to wear this style. Made of soft suede for a comfortably plush fit, it’s silhouette offers a casual approach to this year’s chosen color. Long sleeved for warmth, it can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. The diagonal suede fringes all the way the jacket around give it movement and aesthetic significance. Open without any metallic buttons or closures, it can be paired with any type of jewelry or accessories. Playing around with different textiles like leather, faux fur, and suede and the use different details like buttons, pockets, or fringes work together to create a strikingly eye catching display.

Jewelry

Sparkling accessories, such as jewelry, offer a dynamic way to align luxury with evolving color trends. In keeping with the concentration of this post, I will be particularly speaking about the use of vibrant blue gemstones. Made for fine jewelry, stones like topaz, lapis lazuli, sapphire, tanzanite, aquamarine, spinel, zircon, and iolite shine brilliantly in necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, delivering a touch of opulent glamour with their rich toned hues set in gleaming metal.

For those preferring a connection to nature, raw alternatives like larimar, chalcedony, apatite, kyanite, sodalite, azurite, and aventurine provide a more earthen aesthetic, showcasing organic textures and unpolished charm. These options cater to diverse styles, allowing wearers to choose between high shine rustic chic or grounded earthy elegance. By harnessing the versatility of blue toned gemstones, accessories become not only fashion forward statements but also personalized expressions of artistry and individuality.

Costume jewelry offers a sparkling shortcut into the pale blue craze for those unable to fully commit. I’m talking about everything from dainty blue rhinestone brooches that pin a pop of frosty shimmer to beaded bracelets that ripple with icy tones. Truly inventive fashionistas seek out multi gemstone pieces that combine a single blue stone with an array of complementary hues, creating a miniature kaleidoscope on your wrist or neckline. It’s also common for multi gemstone tennis bracelets to include a blue stone in their multi stone lineup alongside other heavy hitters like amethyst, citrine, or peridot.

Pearls—whether genuine or faux—are especially versatile. They are often paired with an eclectic mix of both genuine and created colored beads that accentuate their soft luster. Freshwater pearl sets are frequently dyed in delicate shades of sky blue or bluish gray to add a fresh, modern twist to an already enduring gem. No matter if you choose a single statement piece or layer several together for added affect, these glitzy accessories let you play with texture, color, and sparkle, turning any outfit into a subtle yet stylish celebration of the trend setting cool blue palette.

Styling Ideas

Now that we’ve discussed all the different shades, textures, and accessories that you can use to wear the pale blue trend in your own life, let’s talk about how you can style it into a full outfit yourself! As you can see, I curated four distinctive separate looks to give you inspiration and spark your imagination. Each look demonstrates how versatile that gentle blue can be regardless of if you’re aiming for casual cool, refined professionalism, exciting streetwear, or chic refinement.

The first look pictured features the baby blue faux leather jacket that we discussed earlier. To style it, I decided to create dimension by combining the smooth texture of leather with a knit tank top underneath. This is one of my favorite textile pairings and it’s very easy to wear! The tight knit tank top that I chose to put under this jacket has shades of blue, green, and teal woven into it’s multicolor yarn. These colors make the pale blue jacket pop in a way that wouldn’t work with just another solid color while still keeping with the blue color palette. I would wear this look with blue jeans or a skirt depending on where I was headed. For jewelry, a natural or raw stone like kyanite, aventurine, chalcedony, or even moonstone would be a nice touch.

In the second outfit, you will recognize the aforementioned vintage Versace denim jacket. I’ve styled it with a gray square neck long sleeved top beneath. I chose gray not only because of the cool toned buttons of the jacket but because it’s one of the colors woven throughout the embroidery on the jacket. When you wear a patterned piece like this jacket, it’s always a chic choice to pull one of the colors directly from embroidery to wear with it for continuity. This isn’t just about ensuring that the colors match, it’s about creating a visual continuation between the pieces you’re wearing together. As I mentioned, this jacket is from a suit so I would wear the matching pants in the same design with this simple gray shirt. The square neckline ensures that while it’s a basic gray shirt, it’s not boring to look at. Small details like a neckline change or a tailored cut can make all the difference to every day clothing. Always try to match the hue of your jewelry to the color of your outfit. This means I would be looking for neutral blue gemstones that lean towards gray like tanzanite, iolite, or aquamarine.

The third outfit features the fourth top from the first picture and a blazer that fits this theme but I didn’t have room to dedicate a full picture to until now. This vibrant cornflower blue top looks perfect beneath the blue, black, and white floral Kasper blazer. Pulling colors from a print jacket—especially floral—always has a beautiful result and this look is no different. I would not wear black or white underneath this blazer because it would be a waste of blue and in my opinion, the combination I decided on looks much better. When I’ve worn this outfit in the past, I wore it with black straight leg trousers and black stilettos—neither of which I would change. Pearls are also a fabulous accent to this sophisticated business look though any other matching jewels would suffice.

The final outfit is more casual and consists of both the light blue long sleeved ribbed crop top and blue fringe jacket seen earlier in the post. I decided to pair them together because they are a close color match. The ribbed fabric of the crop and the suede textures of the fabrics ensures not only a comfortable fit but visual softness while keeping interest. I also chose this top with this jacket due to the v neckline that they both share. The diagonal direction of the fringes compliments the v neck of the crop top by encouraging the eye to follow the same lines. I would wear this look with blue jeans and western boots to really lean into the aesthetic. Blue gemstones like topaz or aquamarine would be in the right range for this outfit but in the pictures, I’ve used a sterling silver blue paste stone necklace instead.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this week’s deep dive into the wild blue yonder of fashion trends!
